Future Therapists

Welcome to my little page on supervision!  If you are looking for internship supervision or supervision towards licensure, I'm your person.  I am a AAMFT Approved Supervisor, and I work very hard to connect and understand the future colleagues that come to me.  I want you to be the best version of yourself as a therapist, and not mini-'me's. I will make sure that your experience has the perfect mix of support and challenge, while also providing supplemental knowledge. My preferred process of supervision is a mix of individual dyadic and group supervision which includes a combination of trainee report and live supervision of sessions. I rotate between individual supervision meetings and group because each type benefits the supervisee differently, and also because in the state of Florida, half of the supervision hours need to be in an individual format. When you are working with me, I will help you identify and work within your preferred model while also deepening your knowledge of other practices that will help you both professionally as well as on the exam. I recognize how my identity, on a variety of levels, influences both my practice and my supervision.  In short, I have spent my life threading the needle and walking a fine line between identifying my own experiences and biases and ‘showing up’ for my clients and supervisees in ways that most benefit where they say they want to be.

Professionally, I recognize that I have continually challenged myself.  In the past when faced with a population that I had inexperience with, I would habitually seek supervision and more exposure in an effort to build better understanding.  Additionally, when presented with opportunities to enhance my practice and skill I seek them out. I identify within those opportunities other professionals that can support and mentor my growth. My experience ranges from being a front-line therapist working with Autistic children in a class room, an in-home clinician working with couples and families, a program manager overseeing teams of clinicians to running an Agency Director in charge of over 900 children and 80 staff. These lived moments and identities have all shaped how I supervise and how I practice. I believe therapists have valuable lived experience and knowledge that contribute to their engagement in the practice of therapy.  I find that I am able to not only draw from my experiences, but more over I am able to help my supervisees identify and draw from their own. If this sounds like a fit for you contact me for scheduling and cost.
